Case Study: Urban Express

Urban Express was the best and biggest same-day messenger service in New York City. Over time, they had morphed into a $30 million+ specialty logistics company with a North American footprint, providing four distinct services and had outgrown their old brand.

Our challenge was to unify these businesses into a coordinated brand that would be seen as an equal when competing with the likes of FedEx and UPS.

After going through a comprehensive positioning process, PM+CO developed new brand names, and created powerful brand packages including websites for five entities: the new umbrella company brand, UX Specialized Logistics, plus the four individual sub-brands. The introduction of the new branding, with clearer communication as well as brand integration, helped them grow 47% in the first 20 months and to $113 million, before being purchased in early 2015 by XPO Logistics, a $6 billion leader in their industry. PM+CO is currently working with XPO Logistics.
